Here are some tips for connecting with teachers in your school:
Do little things to make their lives easier. Help them troubleshoot a computer problem or find a resource. Small gestures go a long way.
Share ideas and new resources during staff meetings.
Go visit their classrooms. Connect with students and see what they are learning.
When collaborating, get to know the teachers and their styles, so you can tailor co-taught lessons to suit their needs.
Spend time with teachers outside of collaboration time. Go to the staffroom, attend staff outings, and chat with colleagues in the copy room. Good relationships are the foundation for engaging co-teaching.
Keep an open door policy in the library. Make it a safe and inclusive environment for everyone who visits.
Keep colleagues up to date with a library newsletter.
Come up with collaboration ideas and offer them to teachers. They will be more likely to collaborate if they know you can ease the planning process.
Organize a potluck luncheon. Food is great for great social bonding!
Keep snacks, candy, and coffee in your library.
Collaborate remotely using Destiny Collections. Create folders where teachers can access multiple resources on one topic. Watch a tutorial here. (You need access to Follett Destiny through your school district for this one)
