Every Teacher-Librarian gains knowledge from others in their network. Who are the supports in your community?
When I first started out, one of the pieces of advice I got was to join Twitter and start following fellow librarians. When you do this, make sure to find out if your district has its own hashtags. My district had a general one, as well as one specifically for school librarians. I found colleagues all over my district who were doing amazing things. I also joined my local teacher-librarian's association. In doing so, I gained access to resources, learned about upcoming conferences, and became part of a vast support network. In British Columbia, our association is the BCTLA. Last but not least, there are amazing TLs around the globe who run websites and blogs showcasing their experiences and expertise. The advice and support you get from these fellow librarians in the field is so valuable.
